CER Golf Tournament: another record-breaking year for helping needy children in Martin County

STUART - Dale Hoffa, chairman of the board of Childrens Emergency Resources, and members of the CER board of directors are pleased to announce that the Childrens Emergency Resources golf tournament of April 18 was a record-breaking success.

"It was a great day for golf, and a great day for Childrens Emergency Resources. Thanks to all for the admirable participation, from the many foursomes that played, the beauty of the newly renovated Evergreen Club course, the help from volunteers, and the wonderful donations, prizes and gift baskets donated for the event," said Hoffa, co-chair of the event along with Jim Hart, CER Board member.

CER Board President Miriam Wheeler added that after providing 32 years of service to the children of Martin County, CER continues to be an effective and popular organization: "There is no overhead. There are no offices. All members are volunteers. There are no salaries. Almost every dollar goes to children in need of medication, glasses, hearing aids, dental work, wheelchairs, nebulizers, lice treatment, counseling, rehabilitation, and many other health-related services."

First Place Foursome title was won by Chris Junk, John Ritter, Paul Martin and Mike Tommeraas. The Second Place Foursome included Ernest Velasco, Paul Zinter, Paul Ezzo and Bobby Byrd.

Laura McBride, CER board member, told the audience at the golf tournament, "When donors help CER, those hard-earned dollars stay right here in Martin County to help local children in need. Our 501(c)3 agency, funded in part by United Way, has been at the forefront of interagency collaborations to offset, defray and supplant expenses when needed and to assist other agencies in need of support."

In order to maintain funding, Childrens Emergency Resources must raise additional monies each year with fundraising events and year-round donations. The annual golf tournament is the largest fundraiser for CER.
